CAREER PATH CHECKLIST

The following checklist is designed to help you identify areas of strengths and weaknesses in your work life. There are 5 sections including: Work Day, Well Being, Money, Relationships and Career Path. Read each statement in each section and mark the checkbox if the statement is true for you most to all of the time. Be brutally honest with yourself! When you reach the end of the Checklist, you will see your total score and a score for each section. Like with all assessments, use this as a tool to create self-awareness and identify changes to make to be on a more rewarding Career Path.

Work Day

1. My values and talents are expressed at work at least 80% of the day.
2. My company's vision/mission is in line with my values.
3. I feel valued / appreciated by the company.
4. My superiors and I have regular meetings to discuss my goals and I know what is expected of me at work.
5. I am able to organize my time efficiently and productively.
6. I am able to draw appropriate boundaries around my time and space.
7. My work environment is positive and uplifting.
8. I have had the opportunities at work to learn and grow within the past year.
9. I am aware of handling any incompletions, irritations and frustrations at work.
10. I am afraid to get noticed and to shine.
11. I understand my firm's politics and flow with vs. fight them.

Well Being

1. I am aware of and handling any unhealthy habits, such as procrastination, perfectionism, fear, etc., that prevent me from reaching my potential.
2. I am able to leave work at work.
3. I have adequate energy to get through a full work day.
4. I take time for meals and I take breaks to refuel, re-energize or rest.
5. I consistently take evenings, weekends, and holidays off and take at least two weekes of vacation each year.
6. I have a rewarding life beyond my work or profession and I have something to look forward to virtually every day.
7. I rarely miss work due to illness.

Money

1. My income source / revenue base is stable and predicatable.
2. I am on a career / professional / business track which is or will soon be financially and personally rewarding.
3. My earnings are commensurate with the effort I put into my job.
4. I am paid sufficiently / above average in allocation to my efforts in the organization.

Relationships

1. I get along well with my co-workers / clients.

2. I put people first and results second.

3. I do not take personally the things that people say to me.
4. I work with positive supportive co-workers and clients / customers.
5. My boss / supervisor recognizes my contributions to the company and acknowledges them appropriately.
6. I feel comfortable asking for what I need / want from my co-workers.
7. I have a network of professional colleagues to call upon should I get stuck or need advice.
8. I have a support system who knows my professional goals and are willing to support me in them.
9. I have a collegue / boss / mentor at work who encourages my development.
10. My co-workers are committed to doing quality work.

Career Path

1. I am clear on what my purpose and passion is.
2. I am engaged in activities on a daily basis that expresses my purpose and passion.
3. I am committed to continual learning in my field.
4. I set aside time on a regular basis to work towards my career goal / dreams.
5. I have a clear plan for my career path - long term and short term professional goals.
6. I know how to use the web for a career process.
7. I know my top 5 work values, personal values, talents, and professional accomplishments.
8. I have a professional resume and/or portfolio that effectively communicates my career goals.
9. I know what it takes to get ahead and I do that respectfully.
10. I am aware of the local resources - networking associations, career coaches, recruiters, etc., should I be in a job search.
11. I network or am active in related, important professional associations and organizations to further my career and knowledge.
